PENSACOLA, Fla. — A group of South Alabama football players won their division at the annual Ronald McDonald House Fire Truck Pull in Pensacola, pulling a 61,000-pound fire truck 50 feet in 10.302 seconds.
The Jaguars competed on behalf of Mobile McDonald’s Owner Operators.
Narrow Win in Retail Division
Thirty-five teams competed across seven divisions in the charity event. South Alabama entered the retail division, which included six teams.
Each team was made up of 20 people who pulled the fire truck a distance of 50 feet. The Jaguars’ time of 10.302 seconds narrowly beat the Escambia County Professional Firefighters, who finished in 10.376 seconds, and Fire & Emergency Services Gulf Coast, which posted a time of 10.463 seconds.
The event benefits the Ronald McDonald House, which provides lodging and support for families of children receiving medical care.

South Alabama players who participated were Ken Barefield, Paul Bennett, Eddy Cabrera, Jamie Driskell, Justin Dunn, Lionel Fuentes, Scott Garber, Myles Gibbon, Gabe Graham, Dalvin Harris, Danzel Harris, Brian Kauskopf, Andrew Martin, Lawson McGlon, Alex Phifer, Philip Press, Donte Rome, Donald Scott, Courtney Smith, Anthony Taylor, Josh Terry, Michael Wilson and Justin Walker.
Capping the First Season
The win came after South Alabama finished its inaugural football season in 2009 undefeated at 7-0 under head coach Joey Jones. The Jaguars played their home games at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile.
