MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama football players have received rings commemorating the program’s undefeated inaugural season.
The rings were presented to the team recently, marking the 2009 season in which the Jaguars played their first games under head coach Joey Jones and did not lose.
Ring Design
The diamond-encrusted rings feature the familiar Jaguar athletics logo along with the team’s record. Each ring is personalized with the player’s name, jersey number and position.
A First Season Without a Loss
South Alabama launched its football program with Jones as its first head coach, and the Jaguars played their home games at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile during that first season. The team completed the 2009 schedule without a defeat, an accomplishment the rings are designed to recognize.
The Jaguars are continuing to build the program as they progress toward full competition, with Jones and his staff guiding the team through its next steps.
