MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama unveiled the first football uniform in school history at the conclusion of its spring scrimmage, with receiver Ralph Turner modeling the new look for fans.
A Traditional Design
The uniform is all white. Blue and red stripes run down the sides of the jersey and wrap around to meet below the numbers on the back. The pants and helmet are also white, with the Jaguar logo on both sides of the helmet and on the hip of the pants.
Head coach Joey Jones said the design was meant to reflect a classic style.
“I wanted to go with a traditional look,” Jones said. “We came up with a uniform that we are very excited about.”
Fans Meet the Team
After the unveiling, fans had the opportunity to photograph the uniform. Following brief remarks, spectators were invited onto the field to collect autographs from Jaguars players and coaches.
The scrimmage, which was free and open to the public, capped South Alabama’s spring practice schedule.
Building Toward the First Season
The uniform will make its game debut this fall, when the Jaguars play their inaugural football season under Jones, the program’s first head coach. South Alabama will play its home games at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile.
