MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama’s home football game against Mississippi State on Saturday is sold out, the first sellout in the history of the Jaguars’ program.
The South Alabama Athletic Ticket Office sold the final 300 general admission tickets before noon Tuesday. More than 38,000 tickets have been sold for the game at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.
Previous Record Crowd
The Jaguars are in their sixth season of football. The program’s largest crowd to date was 26,783 for its debut game against Hargrave Military Academy on Sept. 5, 2009. Saturday’s ticket sales already exceed that figure by more than 11,000.
In August, the ticket office reported that the stadium’s west stands were sold out and that roughly 500 seats remained on the east side, with general admission end zone tickets to follow once those were gone. The remaining general admission seats were the last to go on Tuesday.
SEC Returns to Ladd-Peebles
The game will be the first at Ladd-Peebles Stadium involving a Southeastern Conference school since the fall of 1968.
South Alabama, a member of the Sun Belt Conference coached by Joey Jones, enters the game 1-0 after a 23-13 win at Kent State in its season opener. Mississippi State arrives averaging 48 points and 533 yards of offense per game.
