MOBILE, Ala. — Kaitlyn Griffith hit a three-run home run and South Alabama softball beat Nicholls State 8-0 in six innings Wednesday night at Jaguar Field, the Jaguars’ eighth run-rule victory of the season.
South Alabama improved to 18-2 overall and 6-0 at home. Nicholls State fell to 7-11.
Big Fifth Inning
Griffith’s home run to center field came in the bottom of the fifth inning. Britany Campbell and Brittany Fowler followed with triples to drive in two more runs.
In the sixth, Alex Breeden scored from second base on an error, and pinch-runner Britany Campbell scored from third on a wild pitch.
Beard Stays Unbeaten
Beard earned the win to improve to 8-0 with a 1.24 ERA.
South Alabama also beat Nicholls State 7-1 in Louisiana last month.
