South Alabama volleyball beat Texas-Arlington 3-1 on Friday afternoon, picking up a Sun Belt Conference win and its fifth victory in its last six matches.
The Jaguars improved to 12-13 overall and 7-8 in Sun Belt play. They have won seven of their last 10 matches.
Freshmen Lead the Way
Freshman Jessica Lewis led all players with 17 kills and added nine digs, one dig short of her second double-double.
Fellow freshman Mechell Daniel recorded her 11th double-double of the season with 16 kills and 10 digs. Ten of Daniel’s 11 double-doubles have come against Sun Belt opponents.
Conference Standings
Texas-Arlington lost its fourth straight match and fell to 15-13 overall and 8-7 in the Sun Belt.
South Alabama sits in sixth place in the conference at 7-8, behind Louisiana-Lafayette and Texas-Arlington, which are both 8-7.
Final Week of Regular Season
South Alabama closes its regular-season home schedule Sunday against Louisiana-Monroe. The Jaguars then finish the regular season on the road next weekend at Western Kentucky and Georgia State.
The Sun Belt Conference Championship begins Nov. 21 in Troy.
The Jaguars are coached by Amy Hendrichovsky, who is in her second season leading the program.
