South Alabama women’s golf was one of only two teams to complete the first round of the Sun Belt Conference Championship at Steelwood Country Club, finishing Tuesday after repeated weather stoppages that began when play opened Monday.
The Jaguars posted a team score of 18-over-par 306. Louisiana-Monroe, the only other school to finish its opening round, shot 21-over-par 309.
Hagen Leads Jaguars
Senior Ingrid Hagen led South Alabama with a 3-over-par 75. Starting on the back nine, she birdied the par-5 10th hole, gave the stroke back with a bogey on the par-4 15th and birdied the par-4 16th to move under par. A double bogey on the par-5 18th left her at 1 over, but she returned to even par with a birdie on the par-4 first hole.
Consecutive bogeys on the fifth and sixth holes put Hagen at 2 over, and she played her final four holes at 1 over to finish at 75.
Rest of the Lineup
- Caroline Beebe: 4-over-par 76, including an even-par front nine and pars on seven of her final eight holes
- Carianne Wright: 5-over-par 77
- Madison Connell: 6-over-par round
- Kaeli Jones: 7-over-par round
Weather Halts Play Again
Inclement weather again stopped play Tuesday, preventing the rest of the field from completing the first round and keeping South Alabama and Louisiana-Monroe from starting the second round. Tournament officials had not determined when play would resume Wednesday.
Live scoring will be available on GolfStat.com when the tournament resumes, with coverage on SunBeltSports.org.
