An 80s-Themed 5K and Block Party Takes Over Foley Heritage Park Friday

The South Baldwin Chamber Foundation holds its Walk This Way: 80’s 5K & Block Party at Foley Heritage Park on Friday, Sept. 12, from 5 to 10 p.m., pairing a themed road race with a five-hour party and sending the proceeds to local education initiatives.
The Course
The 5K winds through Downtown Foley and the Rose Trail before finishing at Heritage Park, where the block party takes over.
Routing a race through the downtown core rather than around a closed loop is a deliberate choice — it puts participants past the storefronts and public spaces the city has spent years rebuilding, and it keeps the finish line where the crowd already is.
Themed costumes are highly encouraged, which at a 5K tends to produce a field somewhere between serious runners and people in leg warmers.
The Block Party
The evening features live music from Disco Kiss, an 80s cover band, with special guest Kylee Kubat, billed as the 80’s Condo Queen.
Food will be available for purchase from a variety of food truck vendors throughout the evening.
Participants and guests may bring their own beverages to enjoy during the block party, provided they comply with event guidelines and local regulations. That is a less common arrangement at a public event and worth noting in advance — it means planning ahead rather than relying on a beverage tent.

The two-tier structure lets people who have no interest in running a 5K on a September evening in south Alabama attend the part they came for.
