Baldwin County teachers and school leaders now have a chance to secure extra funding for classroom projects, as Tanger Outlets Foley has officially reopened applications for its annual TangerKids Grants Program for the 2026/27 school year. The application window opened this week and will remain available through Oct. 18, 2026.
The grant program is designed to let educators identify specific needs at their schools and request funding to address them directly. Eligible projects include those that improve accessibility, upgrade classroom learning environments, and provide resources that support overall student success. Faculty at both public and private schools serving pre-kindergarten through 12th grade in the area are eligible to apply.
A Long-Running Commitment to Local Schools
The TangerKids initiative is part of a broader philanthropic effort by Tanger, the outlet retail company that operates the Foley shopping center along with dozens of other properties nationwide. Over the past three decades, Tanger has directed more than $3.9 million toward education programs in the communities surrounding its 38 outlet centers and four open-air lifestyle centers.
In 2025 alone, the program distributed approximately $200,000 to schools and education initiatives across the United States and Canada. Funding priorities that year centered on creating more inclusive classroom environments, supporting underserved schools, and responding to the evolving needs of students — priorities that are expected to continue guiding this year’s grant selections.

For teachers, grant programs like TangerKids can provide resources that are difficult to secure through standard school budgets, whether that means adaptive equipment for students with disabilities, updated classroom technology, or materials that help close gaps in underserved schools. Because the program is open to both public and private school educators across pre-K through 12th grade, it gives a wide range of Baldwin County classrooms a shot at additional support heading into the new school year.
Tanger Outlets Foley itself is one of Baldwin County’s largest retail destinations, a 555,000-square-foot open-air center with more than 100 stores, including popular national brands such as Nike, Crocs, J. Crew and Aerie. The center’s continued investment in local schools comes as it also expands its own footprint in the area with new tenants and dining options.
