Dodge City Community College Receiver William French Commits To South Alabama

Dodge City Community College wide receiver William French verbally committed to South Alabama, joining teammate James Bynes in the Jaguars' 2015 class.

MOBILE, Ala. — Dodge City Community College wide receiver William French gave a verbal commitment to South Alabama on Monday, joining a Dodge City teammate in the Jaguars’ 2015 recruiting class.

Joins Teammate James Bynes

French, listed at 5-foot-9 and 180 pounds, joins James Bynes, his teammate at the Kansas junior college, as a South Alabama commitment.

French told Alabama Media Group that he had already planned to choose South Alabama, but that Bynes “gave me more confidence” in the decision.

2013 Production

Last season, French caught 32 passes for 574 yards in 10 games, an average of 17.9 yards per reception. He led Dodge City with four touchdown catches.

Growing Commitment List

French adds to a list of verbal commitments for South Alabama’s 2015 class that includes St. Paul’s cornerback Jalen Thompson, offensive lineman Steven Clark, tight end Julian Allen, Satsuma quarterback/wide receiver Reid Rials, defensive end Anfernee Mullins, quarterback Aaron Johnson, tight end/offensive lineman Zach Davis, defensive tackle Roy Albritton and junior college cornerback Quinton Lane.

Verbal commitments are non-binding.

Camp Opens Soon

South Alabama opens preseason camp in about a week. The Jaguars, coached by Joey Jones, open the 2014 season Saturday, Sept. 6, at Kent State.

South Alabama competes in the Sun Belt Conference and plays its home games at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile.
