South Alabama football picked up four verbal commitments over the weekend, giving coach Joey Jones and his staff seven pledges for the class of 2015.

MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama football coach Joey Jones and his staff received four verbal commitments over the weekend, bringing the Jaguars’ total to seven for the class of 2015.

The group includes two junior college tight end prospects, a junior college cornerback and a high school offensive lineman from north Alabama.

Two Junior College Tight Ends

Julian Allen, a tight end at Lackawanna College, is rated as the 83rd-best junior college prospect for 2015.

James Bynes, a tight end and wide receiver prospect from Dodge City Community College, also committed during a weekend visit to campus with the Jaguar coaching staff.

The commitments add to a position group that includes Wes Saxton and Braedon Bowman on South Alabama’s 2014 roster.

Lineman and Cornerback Join Class

Offensive lineman Steven Clark, a member of the class of 2015 at Brindlee Mountain School in Guntersville, Ala., committed after a recent visit to South Alabama. Clark had also visited with staffs from Southern Miss and Arkansas State, among others.

Quinton Lane, a cornerback at Itawamba Community College in Fulton, Miss., also gave his verbal pledge. Lane is listed at 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds and is rated a three-star prospect by 247Sports.

Thompson Committed Last Week

The weekend commitments followed the verbal pledge of Jalen Thompson last Tuesday. Thompson chose South Alabama over several other schools, including South Carolina, which had recruited him and hosted him for a visit the previous weekend.
