Allegiant Just Struck a Deal With Expedia, and Gulf Shores’ Airport Could Be a Big Winner

James Bullard, July 15, 2026

Allegiant Travel Company and Expedia Group have announced a strategic partnership making Expedia the first authorized online travel agency to distribute Allegiant flights, under a 12-month exclusive agreement that industry watchers say could meaningfully boost bookings tied to Gulf Shores International Airport.

The deal integrates Allegiant’s full route network — 566 routes across 124 U.S. cities — into Expedia’s full suite of booking platforms, including Expedia, Hotels.com, VRBO, Travelocity, Trivago and Hotwire. For the Alabama Gulf Coast economy, the partnership matters because Allegiant has been a major driver of tourism growth for Gulf Shores and Orange Beach in recent years, with Gulf Shores International Airport expanding service to 13 nonstop destinations and up to 30 weekly flights.

The partnership is expected to open new distribution opportunities for local independent hotel operators and condo rental companies in the Gulf Shores and Orange Beach area, making their Allegiant-linked travel packages more visible across Expedia Group’s platforms than they were previously. For a tourism-dependent local economy, broader visibility on major booking platforms can translate directly into increased visitor traffic during both peak and shoulder seasons.

The 12-month exclusivity window gives Expedia a temporary edge over competing travel platforms in distributing Allegiant inventory, a structure that could shift where and how travelers discover Gulf Shores as a destination over the coming year.
