One of Mobile’s signature charity evenings is returning for its 26th year — in a format adapted for the pandemic era. The American Cancer Society’s Vintage Affair Gala, presented by Lexus of Mobile, will be held virtually on Sunday, Sept. 27, from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
The 2020 edition will feature an online auction, giving supporters the chance to bid from home, along with a chance to win an original painting by this year’s featured artist, Kelley Ogburn.
Registration for the virtual event is free. Organizers are directing participants to the event website to sign up ahead of the Sunday afternoon program.
Proceeds support the American Cancer Society’s fight against cancer, funding research, patient services and education programs. Organizers summed up the message of this year’s event in a simple slogan: “Cancer doesn’t stop and neither should we.”
The Vintage Affair has been a fixture of Mobile’s fall social calendar for more than a quarter century, and the move to a virtual format allowed the tradition to continue even as in-person gatherings remained limited.
