PINE GROVE, Ala. — The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help locating a 21-year-old Bay Minette man wanted for attempted murder after a shooting late Saturday night in the Pine Grove community left another man seriously wounded.
Investigators have identified the suspect as Jaytwon Williams, 21, of Bay Minette, and say he should be considered armed and dangerous.
What deputies say happened
Just before midnight on Saturday, Aug. 22, patrol deputies were called to a home on Pine Grove Road Extension, near the intersection of Nicholsville Road, after a report that a man had been shot. When they arrived, deputies found the victim suffering from several gunshot wounds and began rendering aid until medical personnel took over.
The wounded man was taken first to a local hospital and then flown to an area trauma center, where he remained in stable condition, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Authorities have not publicly identified the victim.
How investigators identified a suspect
Investigators and crime scene personnel worked the scene into the early morning hours, collecting and processing evidence. The Sheriff’s Office said statements from the victim and from witnesses who were on scene led detectives to develop Williams as the suspect in the shooting.
Deputies said Williams was already wanted before the shooting on an unrelated felony domestic violence warrant. He now also faces a charge of attempted murder in connection with Saturday night’s incident.
Considered armed and dangerous
The Sheriff’s Office is urging residents not to approach Williams and to contact law enforcement immediately with any information about the shooting or his whereabouts. Tips can be directed to the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office at 251-937-0202.
Deputies have not released a possible motive or said what led up to the gunfire. The Sheriff’s Office said additional information would be shared as the investigation moves forward.
