Bob Dylan was headed back to Mobile, with the music legend scheduled to play the Saenger Theatre in downtown Mobile on Wednesday, October 17 as part of his U.S. tour.
Tickets for the Port City date went on sale that Friday, available at the Saenger Theatre box office and online through Ticketmaster. The stop gave Gulf Coast fans one of the few chances to see the Nobel Prize-winning songwriter in an intimate theater setting rather than an arena.
Dylan had a long history of Gulf Coast appearances, and each Mobile visit drew listeners from across south Alabama and the Florida Panhandle. His tours were known for ever-shifting setlists and reworked arrangements of classics spanning more than five decades, from early acoustic folk standards through electric rock milestones.
The Saenger Theatre, a restored 1927 movie palace on Joachim Street in downtown Mobile, has served as one of the city’s premier touring venues, hosting generations of national acts between larger stops in New Orleans and Pensacola.
