Bras Across the Causeway, a local support group that raises money to help breast cancer patients in the Gulf Coast region, will hold its annual 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run on Saturday, Oct. 17, at Meaher State Park.
The event is a fundraiser to support local breast cancer patients treated at The Breast Center at Providence Hospital. The group helps women and men fighting breast cancer cover basic living expenses such as bills, groceries and gas, giving them room to focus on recovery.
Walk-up registration is open until 7:50 a.m. on the day of the run. Adult registration is $20, or $17 without a shirt; children’s registration is $15, or $12 without a shirt. Runners are asked to practice social distancing during the event.
A pre-registration pasta party is set for Friday, Oct. 16, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Ed’s Seafood. Following the run, a small celebration at Meaher State Park will include waffles and ice cream from Cammie’s Old Dutch, champagne, and sausage from Hall’s Sausage, with a shrimp boil from Ed’s Seafood open to the public.
