MAGNOLIA SPRINGS, Ala. — Runners, walkers, families and their four-legged companions will take to the oak-shaded streets of Magnolia Springs on Saturday, Nov. 7, for the 2026 Magnolia Springs 5K Run, 5K Walk and 1 Mile Fun Run. The first race begins at 8 a.m., with the start and finish in front of Jesse’s Restaurant at 14770 Oak St.

Organizers describe the course as a tour through some of Baldwin County’s most majestic scenery, winding beneath large oak canopies and past historic homes in the heart of the town.

Three ways to take part

The event offers options for a wide range of ages and fitness levels:

  • 5K Run: A timed 3.1-mile race for runners
  • 5K Walk: The same distance at a walking pace, with its own awards
  • 1 Mile Fun Run: A shorter option well suited to children and families

Organizers say the event is perfect for families and pet lovers, making it a natural fit for parents with strollers, grandparents, young runners and those who want to bring along a dog. Participants bringing pets should plan to keep them leashed and under control on a course shared with other runners and walkers.

Packet pickup on race morning

Packet pickup will be held on race day only, from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m., at the Magnolia Springs Community Hall. With pickup closing just 30 minutes before the 8 a.m. start, participants should plan to arrive early to collect their race materials, pin on a bib and make their way to the start line in front of Jesse’s.

Awards for every division

Organizers plan a full slate of awards:

  • 5K Run: Awards three deep in each age group, plus awards for top male and female finishers in the Overall, Masters, Grand Masters, Senior Grand Masters and Wheelchair categories
  • 5K Walk: Awards three deep in each age group
  • 1 Mile Fun Run: Awards three deep in each age group, and every fun run participant receives a medal

“Three deep” means the top three finishers in each age bracket will be recognized. In road racing, masters divisions are generally reserved for older runners, often beginning at age 40, with grand masters and senior grand masters covering progressively older age groups. Exact age cutoffs vary from race to race, so participants should check the official race information for this event’s definitions.

The inclusion of a wheelchair division means athletes who compete in wheelchairs have their own category for overall awards.

A post-race party at Jesse’s

The finish line doubles as the start of the celebration. Jesse’s Restaurant always provides a memorable post-race party, according to organizers, giving participants and spectators a chance to linger after the final finishers come in.

Supporting Impact Gulf Coast

The race also gives back. A portion of every registration fee benefits Impact Gulf Coast, organizers said, so each participant’s entry helps support the organization’s work.

A course with character

Magnolia Springs, a small town along the Magnolia River in south Baldwin County, is known for its canopy of live oaks and its historic homes, and the race route showcases both. The town is also known for one of the country’s most unusual postal routes: mail for many riverfront homes there has long been delivered by boat, a tradition that has drawn attention from visitors and national media alike.

Though the community’s roots stretch back generations, Magnolia Springs did not incorporate as a town until 2006. Because the race starts and finishes in front of Jesse’s on Oak Street, spectators can cheer participants off at 8 a.m. and be in place again to watch them return.

For runners, the shaded, tree-lined streets make for a scenic route, and the early November date typically brings milder temperatures than the region’s summer and early fall races. That combination makes the Magnolia Springs 5K an appealing outing for first-time racers as well as experienced runners looking for a pleasant course.
