MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama junior wide receiver Corey Waldon underwent knee surgery Friday and is expected to miss three to five weeks, putting his availability for the Jaguars’ season opener in question.
Target: Season Opener
Waldon was held out of practice Thursday before having the procedure the following day. The Jaguars are aiming to have him ready for the 2012 opener against UTSA on Thursday, Aug. 30.
South Alabama athletic trainer Jinni Frisbey said the surgery went well.
Preseason Camp Continues
The injury comes during preseason practice as head coach Joey Jones prepares the Jaguars for the 2012 season, the program’s first as a football member of the Sun Belt Conference.
Waldon is a junior in the receiving corps. No further timetable beyond the three-to-five-week estimate was announced.
