Fairhope Change of Government Vote Moved to Nov. 6, Same Day as General Election

Fairhope's referendum on changing the city's form of government will be held Nov. 6, alongside the general election, at the city's seven polling places.

FAIRHOPE, Ala. — The Fairhope change of government referendum, a citywide vote on a proposal to change the city’s form of government, has been moved to Nov. 6, the same day as the general election.

How the Vote Will Work

Only residents of the City of Fairhope may vote in the referendum. On Election Day, all seven polling places in Fairhope will be open for the general election, and each will have a separate room or area with a dedicated voting booth and poll pad for the city ballot.

Voters who live inside Fairhope city limits will be able to cast ballots in both the general election and the city referendum at the same location.

Council Requested the Change

The City Council had sought the postponement of the vote. Council members have not taken a public position on the proposed change of government during the past three months.
