Mobile Police responded to Williamson High School on Monday after a disorderly complaint involving students, and the school was placed on lockdown as the situation unfolded.
Mobile County Public Schools said one fight broke out in the cafeteria between students. Two men were also seen outside the school but did not take part in the fight. The district said it did not know whether the two incidents were connected.
Charges Filed
According to police, one fight involved students inside the building. While that was happening, two men were outside armed with guns. Antonio Pettaway, 18, and Clifton Granderson, 20, were charged with possession of a deadly weapon on school grounds. The two men did not fight, police said.
A 14-year-old and a 16-year-old girl involved in the cafeteria fight were taken to the Strickland Youth Center on disorderly conduct charges.
The investigation is ongoing, and police said no further information was available at the time. Additional updates were promised as the case developed.
