The second year of Serda’s Songwriters Competition wraps up its qualifying rounds tonight at Serda’s Coffee Company, 3 Royal Street in downtown Mobile. Over the first three Wednesdays of November, two finalists have been selected each week from the field of Gulf Coast singer-songwriters, and tonight’s round decides the last two spots.
Four acts have already punched their tickets to the final: Venom, Skylar Gail, Lane Fisher, and David & Virginia. On Wednesday, November 24, all six finalists will compete for a grand prize that includes a five-song EP produced by Mudbrick Productions and airtime on 92 Zew.
Organizers say this year’s pool has run from teenagers to performers in their sixties, with an acoustic range that has impressed audiences since the competition’s inaugural year. Sets from Venom and Skylar Gail have already appeared in recent video coverage, with Lane Fisher and David & Virginia slated for the next installment.
Tonight’s show starts in the evening at Serda’s, where food and drinks are available throughout the night. Admission details are available from the coffee house directly.
