The Alabama Coastal Foundation is teaming up with Oyster City Brewing Co. for a free “Connect to Your Coast” outreach event on Wednesday, Sept. 24, from 2 to 8 p.m. at the brewery, 600 Government Street in downtown Mobile.
The drop-in format invites residents to stop by anytime during the afternoon and evening to learn hands-on ways to help protect the local coastal environment — from volunteering opportunities to everyday actions that improve water quality along Mobile Bay and the Gulf.
A Pint With a Purpose
A portion of proceeds from every beer sold during the event will benefit the Alabama Coastal Foundation, so each pint supports the nonprofit’s work directly. Oyster City, a Gulf Coast brewery with a name that nods to Apalachicola’s oyster heritage, has made coastal conservation a recurring theme of its community partnerships.

The Alabama Coastal Foundation, founded in 1993, works to improve and protect Alabama’s coastal environment through education, citizen engagement and habitat restoration. Its signature programs include the Alabama Oyster Shell Recycling Program — which is approaching 31 million recycled shells this year — coastal cleanup events, and the annual CivicCorps stewardship initiative.
The Connect to Your Coast series travels to venues across coastal Alabama, giving residents who care about the state’s waterways a low-key way to get involved: meeting program staff, learning about volunteer opportunities, and connecting with other conservation-minded neighbors over a cold drink.
Admission is free, and attendees of all ages are welcome before evening hours. The brewery is located in downtown’s Lower Dauphin district, within easy walking distance of Bienville Square and the RSA tower block.
