Love the Hate Brings Original Alt-Metal to Cockeyed Charlie’s in West Mobile
Mobile alt-metal band Love the Hate headlines Cockeyed Charlie's on Airport Blvd. Friday, Sept. 10, with Faking Solace opening. Free show, music at 9 p.m.
West Mobile’s Cockeyed Charlie’s, a longtime fixture on Airport Boulevard known for showcasing the Azalea City’s homegrown bands, hosts an all-local alternative metal bill on Friday, Sept. 10, with Love the Hate headlining and Faking Solace opening. The show starts at 9 p.m., and there is no cover charge.
Award-winning Mobile band Love the Hate anchors the night with a set built around its original catalog. The group released its latest single, “Solid Ground,” in June 2020, pairing a versatile instrumental arrangement with polished production and an impassioned vocal delivery. The band has cited acts such as Disturbed, Seether and Chevelle among its influences, and its blend of driving riffs and melodic hooks is well suited to a live club setting.
Opening act Faking Solace has two singles out that sketch out the band’s creative foundation. “Contingency Plan” echoes the moodier side of Korn’s early work while keeping the aggression in check, and “Battle of Two” leans on intricate triplet patterns, balancing instrumental and lyrical syncopation in an intense ballad format.
Cockeyed Charlie’s is located at 6920 Airport Blvd. in west Mobile. Weekend shows at the venue regularly feature some of the area’s best local acts, making Friday’s free show an easy entry point for anyone who has not yet sampled the city’s alternative metal scene.
