Fireworks at a community Independence Day celebration

Semmes Celebrated Freedom and Service Members in 2008

James Bullard, July 3, 2008

Semmes held an early Independence Day celebration at Mary G. Montgomery High School in July 2008, according to WKRG.

The event, called Celebrate Freedom, was organized by Orchard Assembly of God Church and included a fireworks show, car show and concert. Organizers said it was intended to honor the country, service members and their families.

Families attended for the music and fireworks, while some participants remembered local service members who had died in the Iraq War.

This is a historical summary of a 2008 community event report.
