Shrimp Festival Vendor List: Where to Shop Artists and Businesses Left Hanging by Isaias Cancellation

After Hurricane Isaias canceled the 2026 National Shrimp Festival, vendors like Agape Juices and local artists turned to flash sales and pop-up shows. Here is the full vendor list and how to support them.

Frozen juices, pottery and handmade jewelry like these were bound for the canceled National Shrimp Festival.

GULF SHORES, Ala. — The tents never went up on the beach, but many of the artists and small businesses who had planned to sell at the National Shrimp Festival are still hoping to recover some of what they spent getting ready. With Hurricane Isaias forcing the cancellation of the 2026 festival, vendors have turned to flash sales, pop-up shows and social media, and the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber has published the full Shrimp Festival vendor list so shoppers can find them.

Organizers called off the four-day festival on Wednesday, Oct. 7, as forecasts showed Isaias heading for the northern Gulf Coast. The event had been scheduled for Oct. 8–11 on the Gulf Shores public beach and typically draws more than 300,000 people. For many vendors, restaurants and artists, it is one of the biggest paydays of the year.

2,000 frozen juices and a call for help

Stephanie Rhodes of Agape Juices, which has shops in Foley and Gulf Shores, was left with a freezer full of product she had made for the festival. In an emotional Facebook video on Oct. 8, when the cancellation notice came, she said she was not alone.

“I’m sure the other restaurants and businesses have had the same thing to deal with,” Rhodes said. “I’ve got like 2,000 juices frozen, ready to go down and sell.”

Rhodes cut prices on the overstock and offered deals on bulk purchases, asking customers to stock up.

“It would be a tremendous help during this time if y’all could come in and load up your freezer,” she said. “It’s been an emotional day. We love you guys, and we appreciate anything y’all can do.”

The community answered. In a follow-up video, Rhodes said the response had moved her.

“As hard as it was for that to be canceled, I have to say I’m grateful for it because I would not have experienced what y’all have done for us today and yesterday,” Rhodes said. “I just want to share how I feel about the incredible love and support all of you have shown us in the last 36 hours. I know it’s hard for so many of us small businesses, and I hope and pray that they receive the same amount of support that we have. It’s been incredible.”

Artists stage pop-up shows on the island

Local artists also teamed up to create their own mini-festival. Big Beach Brewing hosted clay artist Maya Blume-Cantrell and Tara Gifford of Blue Girl Beading, while clay artist Steven Dark opened his pottery shop half a block away. Artist Nick Cantrell opened his studio in Orange Beach, and J.D. Swiger, who had created an entirely new series for the festival, welcomed customers at his Gulf Shores studio.

“Thursday, we did a ‘hood’ sale,” Dark said. “We all pushed each other’s message/post, and a lot of folks came over to shop. Nothing like the festival itself but was some help recouping expenses.”

Gifford said the turnout at the brewery was overwhelming.

“Maya and I had a great day,” Gifford said. “Sad we couldn’t have had Shrimp Festival, but the people showed up for us at the brewery and it was awesome. Lots of people who came for shrimp Festival that had not evacuated yet, and tons of locals showed up.”

Chamber posts the vendor directory

The Coastal Alabama Business Chamber, which organizes the festival, is encouraging shoppers to support the businesses that lost the weekend. The chamber posted the vendor directory on its Eventeny page, and many listings include photos, contact information, websites and, in some cases, products available for purchase.

“The cancellation of this year’s festival due to Tropical Storm Isaias is heartbreaking because our vendors have spent months preparing for this weekend,” the chamber said in a Facebook post. “You can still support those vendors by visiting the directory on the bottom of our Eventeny page. Many of the listings include photos, contact information, websites and in some cases products that are available to purchase.”

Festival T-shirts still for sale

Official merchandise from the canceled festival is available at the chamber’s office at 3130 Gulf Shores Parkway in Gulf Shores. The chamber said it is also working on an online store.

“We’re working on a plan to offer merchandise through an online store, with shipping available for those who can’t make it in person,” the chamber posted on Facebook. “More details regarding online sales will be shared as they become available.”

Why the cancellation hit small businesses so hard

Vendors at a festival of this size typically spend months preparing, paying for booth fees, materials, inventory, travel and lodging well before the first customer arrives. Food vendors buy perishable ingredients in bulk, and artists often build new work around the event. When a festival is canceled days before it opens, much of that cost is already spent.

The National Shrimp Festival dates to the early 1970s, when local business leaders created it to stretch the tourist season past summer and celebrate the area’s seafood heritage. It has become one of the Alabama coast’s signature events, with hundreds of arts, crafts and food vendors, live music and a children’s area. This year’s cancellation is the third in recent years; the festival was also called off in 2020 and 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Isaias strengthened into a hurricane and made landfall near Destin, Florida, on the night of Friday, Oct. 9, as a Category 2 storm. Gulf Shores and Orange Beach were spared the worst of the damage, but a mandatory evacuation order for visitors and temporary bridge closures disrupted what would have been festival weekend.

  • Visit local shops and studios, including those that held pop-up sales after the cancellation.
  • Buy festival merchandise at the chamber office, 3130 Gulf Shores Parkway, or online once the chamber’s store launches.
  • Share vendors’ posts and leave reviews to help small businesses reach new customers.
