LOXLEY, Ala. — South Alabama senior Ashleigh Ryals tied for fifth place at the Sun Belt Conference Women’s Golf Championship on Wednesday, earning All-Sun Belt honors, while the Jaguars finished third in the team standings at Steelwood Country Club.
Ryals Finishes in Top Five
Ryals, who entered the final round with a one-stroke lead, shot a 5-over-par 77 on Wednesday to finish at 9-over 225 for the tournament. She went 4 over on the front nine with a 40 and 1 over on the back nine.
Troy’s Fatima Fernandez Cano won the individual title at 5 over par, and Troy also claimed the team championship.
Other Jaguars
Elisa Axelsen posted South Alabama’s best score of the final round, a 3-over 75. She was 3 over on the front nine and even par on the back to finish tied for 12th.
Ingrid Hagen shot a 6-over 78 to tie for 19th, the same finishing position as teammate Caroline Beebe. Carianne Wright, competing in her first Sun Belt Championship, shot an 8-over 80 and placed 22nd.
