MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama baseball opened fall practice Monday and held its first intrasquad scrimmage of the fall Tuesday morning at Eddie Stanky Field, where the Red team beat the Gray team 2-0.
Replacing a Championship Roster
The Jaguars are replacing 15 seniors and two juniors who were selected in the Major League Baseball draft from last season’s team, which won a Sun Belt Conference championship and played in an NCAA regional.
Intrasquad Results
The Red team scored an unearned run in the first inning and added another run three innings later.
Bud Collura walked and doubled for the Red team, and Cole Gleason and Cole Jarman each had a hit. Andrew Tindell had the Gray team’s only hit.
Ben Taylor, Dylan Eyler, Sam Givens, Brock Stevens and Jordan Touro each threw a scoreless inning for the Red team. For the Gray team, Kevin Hill, Locke St. John, Brandon Hallford and Kyle Rovig each pitched a scoreless inning.
Fall Schedule
South Alabama will hold intrasquad scrimmages every Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday through Nov. 16 at Eddie Stanky Field. This week’s scrimmages are set for 2:30 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
