MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama junior guard Xavier Roberson will not return to the men’s basketball team this season, athletics director Joel Erdmann said Tuesday.
Roberson, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound guard, was suspended indefinitely before the Jaguars’ Dec. 29 game against Arkansas State.
Erdmann’s Statement
“Xavier Roberson will not return this season,” Erdmann told AL.com. “He is not currently enrolled at the university (for the current semester.) … What his future may be with the school and the basketball program is undetermined.”
Erdmann did not comment on the circumstances of the suspension.
Roberson’s Season
At the time of his suspension, Roberson had started seven of South Alabama’s 11 games and was the team’s second-leading scorer at 13.6 points per game. He also had 13 steals and 17 assists.
Roberson played in only eight games last season after suffering a foot injury.
Homestand Begins Thursday
South Alabama opens a three-game homestand Thursday night against Louisiana-Monroe at the Mitchell Center. Tipoff is set for 7:05 p.m.
