MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama fans preparing for the inaugural Raycom Media Camellia Bowl have a timeline for ticket sales, parking and game-week events as the Jaguars get ready for the first bowl appearance in program history.
The Camellia Bowl will be played Saturday, Dec. 20, at the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, with kickoff set for 8:15 p.m. CST. South Alabama will face an opponent from the Mid-American Conference, which is expected to be announced Sunday, Dec. 7. ESPN will televise the game nationally, and no other college football bowl game is scheduled in the same time slot.
A Milestone for the Program
The bowl bid comes in only the sixth season of South Alabama football, which began play in 2009 under head coach Joey Jones. The 2014 season is the Jaguars’ second as a full Football Bowl Subdivision member and the first in which they have been eligible for and earned a postseason berth. South Alabama competes in the Sun Belt Conference.
Ticket Sales Schedule
Tickets for the game are priced at $25. Season ticket holders and donors to the Jaguar Athletic Fund have an exclusive window to purchase tickets through the USA Ticket Office through Monday, Dec. 8.
Sales open to the general public on Tuesday, Dec. 9. Fans can buy tickets from the USA Ticket Office by phone, in person at the Mitchell Center or online at USAJaguars.com. Purchasers will be notified when their tickets are ready to be picked up, and will-call will be available in Montgomery.
Tickets bought through the USA Ticket Office are credited directly to South Alabama’s sales total, and the school’s ticket sales and fan travel are factors that bowls consider in future invitations. Purchasing through the university also seats Jaguar fans together in the stadium.
Student Tickets and Transportation
Students with a valid, current university ID will have access to at least 1,000 tickets. At least 20 buses are planned to carry students to and from Montgomery. The university said details of the student plan are still being finalized and will be released later.
Parking and Lodging
Automobile parking at the game is free. RV parking costs $50 and opens at noon on Friday, Dec. 19. The Cramton Bowl’s website lists lodging options in Montgomery for fans planning an overnight stay.
Beginning next week, the USA Bookstore will stock official Raycom Media Camellia Bowl merchandise, including long- and short-sleeve T-shirts, crew neck fleece shirts and caps.
