Bowling Green released updates to its future non-conference football schedules this week that included a home-and-home series with South Alabama, though the school later removed the South Alabama games from its website.
Proposed Dates
The Bowling Green listing showed South Alabama visiting Bowling Green on Sept. 11, 2021, with a return game in Mobile on Sept. 3, 2022.
Bowling Green subsequently took the reference to South Alabama off its online schedule. Neither school has announced a signed agreement for the series.
Texas State Dropped
The same update removed Texas State, a future Sun Belt Conference member, from Bowling Green’s schedule. The Falcons had previously listed a home-and-home series with Texas State, with games set for Sept. 19, 2015, in Bowling Green and Sept. 24, 2016, in San Marcos, Texas. No reason was given for the change.
Existing Bowl Connection
The Mid-American Conference, of which Bowling Green is a member, and the Sun Belt Conference have an agreement with the GoDaddy.com Bowl, played at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, matching teams from the two leagues.
South Alabama, coached by Joey Jones, is a member of the Sun Belt and also plays its home games at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.
