MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama added a fourth junior college signee to its 2015 football recruiting class when the official paperwork for Arizona Western running back Dami Ayoola arrived Friday, the university announced.
Ayoola, a 5-foot-10, 205-pound three-star prospect, will join the Jaguars with two seasons of eligibility remaining.
From Illinois to Arizona Western
Ayoola played as a true freshman at Illinois before transferring to Arizona Western. This season he rushed 109 times for 404 yards and caught 11 passes for 156 yards, ranking fifth on the team with 592 all-purpose yards. His best rushing game came against New Mexico Military Institute, when he ran for 129 yards on 22 carries.
A native of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Ayoola starred at St. Thomas Aquinas High School, where MaxPreps.com ranked him the 18th-best running back in the nation.
Jones: A Versatile Back
“Dami is a very good football player, he played as a true freshman at Illinois,” South Alabama head coach Joey Jones said. “He’s a versatile running back. He can run the football, catch it and pass protect, and do all those things very well.”
Backfield Depth
Ayoola joins a running back group that was thinned by injuries late this season and will lose two seniors after the Jaguars’ appearance in Saturday’s Raycom Media Camellia Bowl, the program’s first bowl game.
