South Alabama Practices at Aloha Stadium, Tours Pearl Harbor Ahead of Hawaii Game

South Alabama practiced at Aloha Stadium and toured Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona Memorial on its first full day in Hawaii before Saturday's game against the Warriors.

HONOLULU — South Alabama football combined game preparation with a visit to Pearl Harbor during its first full day in Hawaii, ahead of Saturday’s game against the Hawaii Warriors at Aloha Stadium.

Workout at the Game Site

The Jaguars attended a luau on their first night on the island. The next morning, the team worked out for more than an hour in helmets and shorts at Aloha Stadium, running position drills and formations and spending time on offensive and defensive plays.

Visit to Pearl Harbor

After lunch at the stadium, players, coaches and support staff traveled to Pearl Harbor, site of the Dec. 7, 1941, attack that brought the United States into World War II. The group viewed monuments and exhibits and spoke with survivors of the attack. The visit concluded with a 75-minute tour of the USS Arizona Memorial.

The team returned to its hotel for meetings and will meet again Friday before an afternoon walkthrough.

Kickoff and Viewing Options

Kickoff between South Alabama and Hawaii is set for 6 p.m. local time Saturday, which is 10 p.m. Central.

The game will be available on DirecTV channel 691 at 10 p.m. and channel 683 at 11 p.m., and it can be streamed online for a fee through Hawaii’s athletics website.

In Mobile, Montego’s Cafe and Bar at 6601 Airport Boulevard has become a gathering spot for Jaguar fans on game days. Baumhower’s Restaurant announced it will stay open late to show the game, with South Alabama cheerleaders and mascot SouthPaw scheduled to attend.

South Alabama, coached by Joey Jones, is in its first season as a member of the Sun Belt Conference.

Update: Season Finale Notes

South Alabama enters the finale on a five-game losing streak. Hawaii has two wins this season, the most recent a 48-10 victory over UNLV on Nov. 24.

Kicker Michel Chapuseaux leads the Sun Belt Conference with 20 field goals this season. The Jaguars will be eligible for the Sun Belt championship and a bowl game beginning next season.

The game will be broadcast on radio on 105.5 FM WNSP and streamed on the station’s website. In Hawaii it is available on Oceanic pay-per-view for $12.56.
