MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama announced Wednesday that it has agreed to a three-game football series with N.C. State of the Atlantic Coast Conference, one day after the university released the first schedule in its program’s history.

Series Dates

The contract calls for two games in Raleigh, N.C., and one in Mobile:

  • Sept. 17, 2011: South Alabama at N.C. State
  • Sept. 15, 2012: South Alabama at N.C. State
  • Sept. 5, 2015: N.C. State at South Alabama

Building a Future Schedule

The agreement adds to previously announced games against Tennessee in Knoxville in 2013 and a four-year, home-and-home series with Navy.

“The most important thing about the contracts we’ve signed is that it shows where the program is going and the vision that the administration has,” South Alabama head coach Joey Jones said.

“We know there are steps to get where we want to be, and we’re doing it as fast as any school in the country ever has,” Jones added.

Program Background

South Alabama is preparing to play its first football season in 2009 under Jones, who was hired to build the program from the ground up. The Jaguars will play their home games at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile. South Alabama’s other athletic programs compete in the Sun Belt Conference.
