MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama volleyball lost to Sun Belt Conference leader Arkansas-Little Rock 3-1 on Sunday at Jaguar Gym, the Jaguars’ third consecutive defeat.
The Trojans won by set scores of 25-22, 22-25, 25-15, 25-13. South Alabama took the second set to even the match before UALR pulled away over the final two sets.
Jaguar Leaders
Mechell Daniel led South Alabama with 14 kills and added nine digs. Deanna Canfield came off the bench to record 13 kills, one shy of matching her career high. Libero Jenna Hassell led the team with 16 digs.
Trojans Extend Winning Streak
Arkansas-Little Rock improved to 17-4 overall and 11-0 in Sun Belt play with its 12th consecutive victory. The Trojans have dropped only six sets during the streak.
All-conference players Sonja Milanovic and Edina Begic paced the UALR attack. Milanovic had 17 kills while hitting .417 and added 15 digs and five blocks, and Begic finished with 14 kills.
UALR entered the match leading the Sun Belt and ranked 13th nationally in blocks, and its play at the net was a major factor against the Jaguars.
