MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama volleyball will not compete at this weekend’s Razorback Invitational, the University of South Alabama athletic department announced, citing widespread injury and illness throughout the team.

The Jaguars had been scheduled to play host Arkansas, Saint Louis and Kansas State at the tournament in Fayetteville, Ark.

No Makeup Dates Set

At the time of the announcement, no makeup dates had been scheduled for any of the three matches.

Sun Belt Opener Next Weekend

South Alabama is 5-5 this season under second-year head coach Amy Hendrichovsky. The Jaguars open Sun Belt Conference play next weekend at home at Jaguar Gym, hosting Arkansas-Little Rock at 7 p.m. Friday and Western Kentucky at 5 p.m. Saturday.

The Jaguars’ roster features freshman Mechell Daniel, who was named the Sun Belt Freshman of the Week on Monday, the second time this season a South Alabama freshman has earned the award. Jessica Lewis received the honor earlier in September.
