MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama’s Jessica Lewis was named Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Week on Monday for the second consecutive week and the third time this season.
Lewis is the first South Alabama volleyball player to receive weekly conference honors in consecutive weeks.
Program Totals
The award is the fifth weekly Sun Belt honor for South Alabama volleyball this season and the 11th in program history. Lewis and fellow freshman Mechell Daniel have combined for all five this fall.
First Career Double-Double
Lewis led the Jaguars over the weekend with 31 kills and 22 digs. She opened the trip with 12 kills and seven digs at Texas-Arlington on Friday. On Sunday at Texas State, she posted 19 kills and a career-high 15 digs for her first career double-double.
Lewis ranks second on the team and fifth in the Sun Belt with 3.19 kills per set. She is seventh in the conference at 3.49 points per set.
Back Home This Weekend
South Alabama, coached by Amy Hendrichovsky, returns to Jaguar Gym to host Texas State at 7 p.m. Friday and Louisiana-Lafayette at 1 p.m. Sunday.
