U.S. Highway 43 Reopens in North Mobile County After Morning Crash Involving Commercial Vehicle

All lanes of U.S. Highway 43 in north Mobile County have reopened following a crash Thursday morning that closed most of the highway for several hours.

According to a news release from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the crash occurred just before 7:30 a.m. near the 18 mile marker and involved two vehicles, including a commercial vehicle. The wreck initially closed all southbound lanes and the left northbound lane of the highway.

ALEA said in its initial release that the closures would remain in place “for an undetermined amount of time” while troopers investigated. Troopers were on scene throughout the morning.

By 10:27 a.m., ALEA confirmed all lanes of U.S. 43 were clear. It was not immediately confirmed whether anyone was injured in the crash.

U.S. Highway 43 runs north from Mobile through Prichard, Saraland, Satsuma, Creola and Mount Vernon before continuing into Washington County, serving as a major north-south route for both commuters and commercial traffic.
