Woman Airlifted to ICU After High-Speed Motorcycle Crash on I-10 in Baldwin CountyA woman motorcyclist was airlifted to the ICU after a high-speed crash Sunday morning on I-10 near the Highway 181 exit in Baldwin County, Daphne police say.

A motorcycle crash on Interstate 10 in Baldwin County sent a woman to the hospital in critical condition and briefly halted traffic over the weekend, according to the Daphne Police Department.

The crash happened the morning of Sunday, July 26, on I-10 eastbound near the Highway 181 exit toward Spanish Fort and Daphne. A Daphne Police Department spokesperson said the woman, who was riding a motorcycle, was traveling at an excessive rate of speed when she crashed.

Authorities have not released the exact speed the motorcyclist was traveling, nor have they said whether any other vehicles were involved or whether anyone else was hurt in the crash.

The woman was airlifted from the scene to a hospital, where she was listed in the intensive care unit, the Daphne Police Department spokesperson said.

The stretch of I-10 near the Highway 181 interchange is a heavily traveled corridor linking Mobile with the Eastern Shore communities of Spanish Fort and Daphne, and it has seen a mix of high-speed through traffic and merging local commuters in recent years as the region has grown.

Authorities have not released further details about what led up to the crash. South Alabama News will provide updates on the motorcyclist’s condition and any additional details as they become available from investigators.
