The two candidates competing for the Baldwin County Commission District 3 seat have reported little to no fundraising activity as the race heads toward the November general election.
Republican incumbent Billie Jo Underwood has not raised any additional money since winning the May primary, according to the most recent campaign finance filings with the Alabama Secretary of State. Democratic challenger Philip Browning has not reported any donations or spending since he qualified to run in January and did not respond to a request for comment.
Underwood won a three-way Republican primary in May with more than 65% of the vote. By that point, she had raised $22,801 and spent more than $60,000, a total bolstered by roughly $20,000 carried over from previous campaign funds. Her largest single donor was Barber Marina Inc., a boat dealer based in Elberta, which gave $10,000 in July. She also received $4,000 from the Alabama Realtors Association and $2,500 from the Adams and Reese PAC.
With both campaigns largely quiet on the fundraising front, the two candidates will meet on the November ballot. Baldwin County residents planning to vote absentee must submit their ballot applications by October 26 or cast an in-person absentee ballot by October 28.
