Baldwin County officials have released the Draft Master Plan 2026, a long-range blueprint that will shape land use, infrastructure and growth policy across the county for years to come, and they are urging residents, business owners and community groups to review it before a series of upcoming public votes.
The document, now posted online through the Baldwin County Planning and Zoning Department, lays out strategies covering growth management, land use patterns, transportation networks, infrastructure investment, environmental protection and quality-of-life priorities. County leaders describe it as a roadmap intended to guide decisions on everything from road improvements to development standards as Baldwin County continues to see rapid population growth.
What the Plan Covers
Master plans of this kind typically set the framework local governments use to evaluate rezoning requests, plan capital projects and prioritize infrastructure spending. According to county officials, the Draft Master Plan 2026 addresses several interconnected issues facing Baldwin County, including how and where new development should occur, how to preserve environmentally sensitive areas, and how to maintain residents’ quality of life as the county absorbs continued growth along its coastal and inland corridors.
Because the plan is meant to guide policy over an extended horizon, county officials say resident input at this stage is critical. They noted that community involvement helps ensure the final document reflects shared priorities around development, preservation and long-term resilience, rather than decisions made without public feedback.
Upcoming Public Meetings
The plan now moves through a formal two-step review process. The Baldwin County Planning and Zoning Commission is scheduled to consider the Draft Master Plan 2026 for approval at its next regular meeting, set for 4 p.m. on Aug. 6 at the Baldwin County Central Annex Auditorium, located at 22251 Palmer Street in Robertsdale.
Should the Planning and Zoning Commission act favorably on the draft, the plan will then advance to the Baldwin County Commission for final consideration. The County Commission has scheduled a work session to discuss the plan at 9 a.m. on Sept. 1, followed by its regular meeting at 10 a.m. the same day. Both sessions will take place at the Baldwin County Administration Building, 322 Courthouse Square, in Bay Minette.

County officials are encouraging residents to review the draft plan in advance of both meetings and to attend if possible, saying public turnout plays an important role in shaping the final version of the document.
