MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama quarterback Brandon Bridge has accepted an invitation to play in the 2015 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, the university announced Thursday.
The NFL Players Association Collegiate Bowl is an all-star game for draft-eligible seniors. Bridge becomes the third South Alabama player invited to the game, following Jake Johnson and B.J. Scott, who both played in the 2013 edition.
Game Details
The 2015 game will be played Saturday, Jan. 17, on the campus of California State University, Dominguez Hills in Carson, Calif. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. Central, and the game will be televised on ESPN2. ESPNU will broadcast live from practices on Jan. 14-15.
Former NFL head coaches Mike Holmgren and Mike Martz will lead the two teams. Rosters and the full coaching staffs for both squads have not yet been finalized.
Bridge’s 2014 Season
Through 10 games this season, Bridge has completed 140 of 270 passes for 1,648 yards and 14 touchdowns. He has also rushed 85 times for 256 yards and three touchdowns.
Bridge was named Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 20 after leading the Jaguars to a 30-27 homecoming victory over Georgia State. In that game, he threw for 126 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 137 yards and another score.
He also set a South Alabama single-game record with four touchdown passes in the Jaguars’ 42-40 home loss to Navy.
Before the season, Bridge was named to the watch list for the 2015 Reese’s Senior Bowl.
Bowl Game Up First
Before heading to California, Bridge will play his final game for South Alabama on Saturday, Dec. 20, when the Jaguars face Bowling Green in the Raycom Media Camellia Bowl. It is the first bowl game in school history.
Kickoff at the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. Central, with the game broadcast on ESPN.
South Alabama competes in the Sun Belt Conference under head coach Joey Jones and plays its home games at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile.
