Children in Mobile County who are grieving a loss — or facing the illness of a loved one — will have a place designed just for them when Camp Connect holds its next event on Nov. 6.

Camp Connect is a day camp built to help children who have suffered a loss or who have a terminally ill family member. Through the program, children learn how to understand their grief and pick up practical tools for coping with it, all in a setting alongside peers facing similar struggles.

The Nov. 6 session runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Mobile Carnival Museum at 355 Government St. It is open to children ages 6 to 17, and registration is required in advance.

Organizers note masks are required to attend. Families interested in registering can sign up through Camp Connect’s website.

About the venue

The Mobile Carnival Museum, which opened in 2005, is housed in the historic Bernstein-Bush House on Government Street, a downtown home that dates to 1872. The museum is dedicated to the history of Mobile’s Mardi Gras.
