PENSACOLA, Fla. — Northwest Florida has seen an increase in positive coronavirus cases, and health experts say the numbers will keep climbing as testing expands.
The latest figures showed 43 people with COVID-19 across three Northwest Florida counties in the viewing area.
In Okaloosa County, the highest number of cases was 18, including Destin 7, Niceville 6, Crestview 2, Fort Walton Beach 2 and Mary Esther 1. Escambia County had 17 cases, with Pensacola 11 and Cantonment 6. Santa Rosa County had 8, including Navarre 5, Milton 2 and Gulf Breeze 1.
Residents said they were disturbed by the sudden increase but understood the need to keep their distance.
