Roadway improvements along Milton Jones Road and surrounding corridors in Daphne have been completed as the new school year gets underway, with the roundabout at Milton Jones Road and County Road 13 now reopened to traffic. The project, a partnership between Baldwin County and the City of Daphne, represents nearly $3 million in transportation improvements throughout the area.
The work included an extension of Milton Jones Road from Friendship Road to County Road 13, along with the new roundabout at that intersection. Crews also widened and resurfaced Milton Jones Road from County Road 13 to State Route 181, as well as Jonesboro Road and Pollard Road from Daphne Avenue to Friendship Road.
Daphne officials said the western connection linking Milton Jones Road to Friendship Road is expected to open within the next couple of weeks, providing local motorists with another route through the area.
Rob Middleton Construction completed the new Milton Jones Road extension, while the Baldwin County Traffic Operations Division of the Baldwin County Highway Department handled the widening and resurfacing work along the existing roadway corridors. Officials said the projects were designed to improve traffic flow, increase roadway capacity and strengthen connectivity in the area as families, commuters and students travel to and from schools.
The Baldwin County Commission and the City of Daphne worked together on the project, with Baldwin County officials thanking Daphne for its collaboration and continued commitment to improving local infrastructure.
