A man who volunteered inside the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office has been booked into Metro Jail on charges of sexually abusing a child, according to investigators.
Court documents charge Jimmy Darrel Green, 74, with sexually abusing a child under the age of 12. The alleged abuse occurred between 2014 and 2019, according to the documents.
Volunteer Role Was Clerical
The sheriff’s office said Green assisted deputies with administrative work during his time as a volunteer, including sorting paperwork and making calls to people who had filed reports with the agency.
Investigators indicated that an additional child sex abuse arrest connected to the sheriff’s office could be coming soon. No further details were released.
