BAYOU LA BATRE, Ala. — Police in Bayou La Batre are searching for two men who robbed a haunted house fundraiser at gunpoint Saturday night, stealing money that was being collected for the South Bay Alliance, a nonprofit serving families in south Mobile County.
Masked with a gun
According to Bayou La Batre Police, the two men entered the South Bay Nightmare Haunted House at the Coastal Response Center shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021. One of the men pulled out a handgun and demanded cash from the event staff.
Police did not say how much money was taken from the door or cash boxes. The South Bay Alliance, which organized the event, raises funds throughout the year for south Mobile County families in need — making the loss especially painful for organizers working during the Halloween season charitable event.
Vehicle and suspect descriptions released
In a statement, Bayou La Batre Police Department said the suspects possibly fled in a gray or tan Chevrolet or Dodge truck. One suspect was believed to be wearing a jacket with a logo similar to the Theodore High School Bobcat emblem on the chest.
Anyone with information was asked to contact the Bayou La Batre Police Department. The investigation remained active as of the following week.
