A downtown bar glows with Christmas decorations during a holiday celebrationHayley's Bar marks 27 years on Dauphin Street with its annual holiday party.

One of downtown Mobile’s most recognizable watering holes is hitting a milestone. This week marks the 27th anniversary of the opening of Hayley’s Bar, the pink landmark at 278 Dauphin Street, and the business is throwing a party to celebrate both its birthday and the holiday season.

The festivities begin Friday, December 21 at 8 p.m., when Hayley’s hosts its annual Christmas party and holiday potluck. The bar is promising ham, brisket and all the fixings as free food for guests, alongside drink specials running all night — whiskey, vodka and plenty of other options to keep winter visitors warm.

Christmas decorations will be up throughout the venue as regulars and newcomers alike toast 27 years of independent business on the lower Dauphin corridor.

Anyone out for downtown holiday events this weekend can stop by 278 Dauphin Street to wish the mainstay a happy birthday — and, if past anniversaries are any guide, many more to come.
