Hayley’s Bar is hosting a viewing party this Sunday at 7 p.m. to celebrate the Dauphin Street business’s appearance on Food Network’s The Great Food Truck Race.
A spotlight on Mobile
The episode airs at 8 p.m., and Hayley’s will cater the event with free food from Kevin’s Killers — pulled pork, ribs, baked beans, macaroni and cheese, cole slaw, pasta salad and breads. The bar will also feature its regular drink specials.
The opportunity came when The Great Food Truck Race selected Mobile as a filming destination. Members of the Lone Star truck asked the bar for help promoting the event. “I think Mobile showed up for this. The producers were blown away by the outpouring of people who came out,” owner Delane Bond said.
A positive portrayal
The crowd that turned out for filming was large enough that the food trucks sold more product than in any other stop in the show’s history, Bond said. The appearance marks a positive national television portrayal of Mobile and the broader Southeast.
After the episode, guests can enjoy the venue’s music, video games and pool table. Hayley’s Bar is at 278 Dauphin St. in downtown Mobile.
