MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama freshman forward Lauren Allison was named the Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday, the second time she has received the award this season.
Four Goals in Two Matches
After going four matches without a goal, Allison scored four times over the weekend. She recorded her first career hat trick against Louisiana-Lafayette on Thursday, then added a goal and an assist against Louisiana-Monroe on Sunday for a nine-point weekend.
The two wins moved South Alabama from fourth place to second in the conference standings heading into the Sun Belt Conference Championship.
Allison first earned the weekly award earlier this month after a one-goal, two-assist weekend against Arkansas-Little Rock and Arkansas State.
Among the School’s Best Single Seasons
Allison, a native of Bicester, Oxfordshire, England, has 39 points this season, the fourth-highest single-season total in South Alabama history. Her 14 goals are tied for fourth on the school’s single-season list, and her 11 assists leave her two short of the program’s single-season top 10.
Conference and National Leader
Allison finished the regular season leading the Sun Belt in points, points per game, goals, goals per game, assists, assists per game and game-winning goals. Earlier this season she ranked as high as second nationally in points, third in goals and fourth in points per game.
