South Alabama’s Lauren Allison Named Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week

Freshman Lauren Allison scored a game-winner against UALR and assisted on both goals against Arkansas State to earn Sun Belt weekly honors.

MOBILE, Ala. — South Alabama freshman Lauren Allison was named the Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.

Four-Point Weekend

Allison scored her third game-winning goal of the season Friday against Arkansas-Little Rock, then assisted on both South Alabama goals Sunday against Arkansas State for a four-point weekend.

The performance raised her season total to 29 points, tied for seventh on South Alabama’s single-season list.

Climbing the Record Book

Allison, a native of Bicester, Oxfordshire, England, has nine assists, tied for eighth in school single-season history. Her 10 goals are one short of the program’s single-season top 10.

She leads the Sun Belt in every offensive category except goals per game, where she ranks second.

National Rankings

Allison is among the NCAA’s top 25 in five offensive categories:

  • Total points: 29 (fifth)
  • Total assists: 9 (sixth)
  • Assists per game: 0.69 (eighth)
  • Points per game: 2.23 (11th)
  • Total goals: 10 (19th)

She also ranks 30th nationally in goals per game at 0.769.

Allison is the fourth South Alabama player to earn a weekly conference award this season and the first since goalkeeper Melissa Drish was named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 10.
